Based in Culham since its formation EnerSys ABSL pioneered the first European Space Agency lithium-ion powered Satellite, PROBA-1, in the early 2000s.
Acquired by EnerSys in 2011 the site continues to service the global space industry providing battery and power solutions to international and national space agencies. The company boasts in excess of 3 billion cells hours in space covering Earth orbiting satellites to interplanetary missions and deep space exploration.

Meet the Team
The company and its team pioneered the use of lithium ion batteries on satellites and their adoption around the world. The Culham team has continued to develop its technical and manufacturing knowledge through the years to ensure the batteries maintain the highest standards of space application. The Culham team blends the knowledge and experience from the early pioneers with the drive, ambition and innovation of young engineers to ensure the right solution for every mission in space.
